Level 3/4 Preparing To Teach In The Life Long Sector (PTTLS)

The Level 3 and 4 Awards in Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector are appropriate  for all new entrants to teaching in the lifelong learning sector or for those who are required to achieve a recognised teaching status as defined in the New Overarching Professional Standards for Teachers, Tutors and Trainers in the Lifelong Learning Sector.  This course is aimed at those intending to fulfil an Associate Teacher role and covers the key principles and practice of teaching, learning and assessment. It is suitable for students who are aged 18 and over.   These qualifications aim to equip learners with the knowledge, skills and understanding required for teaching in the Lifelong Learning sector.

Learners should normally hold at least a minimum Level 3 qualification or equivalent in their own area of specialism before beginning this qualification.Learners will undertake observed teaching or  microteaching session which will be observed and assessed by a member of the delivery team. In addition, learners are required to observe the microteaching sessions of other learners. 

Units covered on the  course includes: 

• understand the roles and responsibilities of the teacher
• understand appropriate teaching and learning strategies within a specialist area
• plan, deliver and evaluate a micro-teach session
• understand the use of different assessment methods and the need for
• Record keeping
